There is no better way to store foods, teas, or coffees for a long time than to vacuum seal them and, perhaps, putting them in the fridge. Vacuum sealing is, after all, the way the best coffee makers seal in the unique aroma and flavor they are able to create.
Best Vacuum Sealers of 2020
And if vacuum sealing is the method of choice for that industry, just imagine what wonders this method can do for your meats and vegetables. It is an even more useful tool if you like to cook gourmet foods that need to rest in a special sauce overnight in the fridge.
However, you plan to use it a vacuum sealer is a great addition to any kitchen. For that reason, we have checked the best offers on the market and have come up with the following list of the top 10 best vacuum sealers.
We are going to start with a table, highlighting the most important features of each vacuum sealer, and right after that we are going to get straight into the in-depth reviews we have created for each product.
1. FoodSaver V3240 Vacuum Sealing System
The fact of the matter is that the biggest brand in vacuum sealers is FoodSaver. They make some of the best and most affordable units on the market and that is why, not only have we featured several FoodSaver models, but the V3240 is our favorite.
The reason why we have chosen the FoodSaver V3240 as our favorite vacuum sealer is because it is one of the more affordable and ergonomic models. It does everything that you would want it to do and it is designed to work in an upright position so that it will be very simple to permanently mount it on your countertop.
It adjusts its vacuum speed depending on the type of food you are trying to vacuum seal, so you can use this for something as delicate as tea, or for a much sturdier meal, like a steak.
It also has a different setting for a wet or dry food bag. FoodSaver V3240 basically does everything you would need a food sealer to do and it is one of the most beloved units on Amazon, with a 4.3-star rating.
2. FoodSaver V2244 Vacuum Sealing System
We have already told you that the V3240 is our favorite, but we have to admit that the FoodSaver V2244 does have its merits. The most important thing to consider about it is the fact that it costs almost half the price of the V3240.
It does have certain disadvantages, the most important of which is the fact that you cannot select between wet and dry foods, or adjust the speed of the vacuum to better fit the type of food inside. This is a purely manual machine; however, the advantage is that the power of the vacuum is not so strong as to pull out leaves or dust, but it is built up over time so it can perfectly vacuum form the bag over any piece of meat or nuts.
Ultimately the choice between the V3240 and the V2244 is entirely a financial play because you certainly do not need all the gadgets of the first, but they are a whole lot nicer.
3. FoodSaver GameSaver Deluxe Vacuum Sealer
As the name suggests, the FoodSaver GameSaver is a vacuum sealer that is actually more oriented towards hunters and fishermen. It is a lot bigger than the first 2 models we have talked about and it has special hoses to manage the flow of liquids from within the bags.
The reason why this is more of a hunter’s tool is that it does not have that adjustable vacuum, but it does have an adjustable sealing time switch so you can make sure that you do not sear the meat as you are sealing it. Its size also allows this to be a much sturdier unit that you can take with you on any hunting or fishing trips.
4. Weston Vacuum Sealer
The Weston Vacuum Sealer is the closest we are going to get to an industrial-grade unit in our top 10 best vacuum sealers list. It is the most expensive unit too, but that is because it uses a double piston vacuum pump and a sealing iron of 15 inches.
That means you can use the Weston Vacuum Sealer for even the biggest pieces of meat. Alternately, you can use it to vacuum seal your winter clothes or pillows, so, even though the Weston Vacuum Sealer is so much more expensive than the other units we have already talked about, it also comes with a lot more functions.
5. FoodSaver V4880 Fully Automatic Vacuum Sealer
Having already talked about the most expensive vacuum sealer on this list, it will be much easier to appreciate the many exceptional features of the FoodSaver V4880, and the fact that it cost so little in comparison to the Weston.
The biggest difference between the Weston and the FoodSaver V4880 is that the latter can only seal bags that are 11 inches wide. However, the FoodSaver V4880 is a fully automatic unit, that can detect the type of food you are sealing, whether it is wet or dry, air-born or not, and will adjust automatically.
What is even more impressive is the fact that you can cut the bags in whatever shape you want and the FoodSaver V4880 will be able to perfectly adjust to that shape.
6. Seal-a-Meal FSSMSL0160-000 Vacuum Sealer
Now that we have shown you the units that we think are truly worth the money, we are going to take a small detour and show you 3 vacuum sealers that are extremely cheap.
The first one is the Seal-a-Meal FSSMSL0160-000, and we have to say that it does a pretty decent job of sucking out all the air while sealing the bag. However, it is not perfectly calibrated so, at times, you will need to rip that bag out and try again.
7. Seal-a-Meal VS108-P Vacuum Sealer
The VS108-P is the compact unit from Seal-a-Meal and, except for the fact that it is so much smaller, there is no real difference in performance or price between the two.
The one thing that you should consider is that, despite the fact that these are not our favorite units, they were able to receive a 3.9 star rating on Amazon.
8. FoodSaver FreshSaver Handheld Vacuum Sealer
The FreshSaver vacuum sealer is a slightly different type of product than the rest we have been looking at so far. It requires a special bag or a special container and it only seals a small hole through which it also vacuums out the air, and you need to place your products in the bag through its zip-lock system.
It is a much cheaper unit to buy but the bags are somewhat more expensive so you may end up paying more for less.
However, we decided to include it in our list of the top 10 best vacuum sealers because it is the only cordless unit so it is the only truly mobile vacuum sealer that you can buy.
9. Cuisinart VS-100 Vacuum Sealer
We decided that the Cuisinart VS-100 was worthy of a review simply because it is the only unit in a modern, brushed aluminum look. Otherwise, considering the fact that this is an entirely manual unit, we think it comes at a more than fair price and we were more than happy on how it worked sealing our test bag of tea leaves and our stake.
10. FoodSaver V3835 Vacuum Sealing System
We are going to close with a vacuum sealer that has gotten a lot of “bad press” due to its safety features. The FoodSaver V3835 will not begin the sealing process unless it detects a bag, which is more than fair and an excellent safety precaution.
The problem with that is that you cannot use custom made bags. Except for that, the FoodSaver V3835 is almost as good a unit as the V3240 we started our review list with, and it may make for a better choice because it too has that brushed aluminum look.
